Knowledge café Your Groningen: about Young People and Their Future

How do adolescents envision a future in Groningen? And how can young people be involved in the development of new plans? On November 13 we held a Knowledge Café, led by Arnoud Bodde, at the Campus Eemsdelta about and with youths. We were curious about the vision of adolescents and liked to create a dialogue between young people and other stakeholders.

Since 2020, students from the Eemsdelta Campus have been participating in the research project “Future in Eemsdelta: young people, campus development and livability” of the University of Groningen. The goal of this project? To gain insight into the needs, perspectives and challenges for young people with regard to education, livability and their willingness to commit their future to the region. During the knowledge café, researchers Elen-Maarja Trell, Gwenda van der Vaart and Henk Hofstede shared the results of the research in an interactive way.

Then researcher Elianne Zijlstra explored how to use youth participation structurally when developing plans and policies, together with Romy Misran from youth organization Jimmy's and Kiet Winter. We closed the knowledge café with pizza!
